Tokyo is a contemplative and modern film on the life in the big cities. A history in the physical and psychological wastelands of Japan.

EXPANDING THE REALITY WITH COLOURS AND LINES

The series of Manuel Giron are visually beautiful and conceptually interesting. The photos talk about the complexity and organisation of visual structures and are about the nature of natural space. The way he frames his subjects deliberately crops out the adjacent chaos and visually sharp surrounding environment.

One of the things that is most interesting about his portfolio is the way that color design and color composition become primary subjects within the frame. For example, every single one of his photos is mysterious and could be seen purely through the lens of graphic designs. Also, color and shapes clearly are the main characters in his stories.

Part of the magic of these images is what he has chosen to include in the frame and all the elements in the surrounding environment he deliberately leaves out.

The photos are interesting because they blur the line between photography and graphic design. He talks about his photos as seeking to capture “through various creative ways the optical diversity, the unique perspectives and the shades of special colours, are formed by adjacent and intertwined space.” He reveals an unseen beauty hidden in urban scenes. Manuel Giron reveals his enhanced vision of what these spaces could be if only one had eyes to see.

Manuel Giron exhibe pequeños y delicados cuadros, verdaderas fuentes de luz que no hacen más que recordar su luminosa Guatemala, donde la primavera no conoce el fin. Entre ellos destacan 'El amanecer', 'Crepúsculo' y 'Altiplano'.

La vitalidad y la fuerza de expresión de este pintor lo han llevado a experimentar con otros medios como el vídeo, el dibujo, la fotografía y la literatura.

Exposición en Eurostars Grand Central München

En esta exposición titulada – La reflexión y la sombra – el artista capta con su cámara paisajes urbanos de lugares como Barcelona, Paris, Múnich o Valencia. Ciudades todas ellas que tienen en común ser destinos Eurostars.

Giron nació en Guatemala y tiene nacionalidad suiza. Tras estudiar Bellas Artes en su paí­s de origen se trasladó a Barcelona para dedicarse a la fotografía. Ha trabajado en ciudades como París y Londres,  sus instantáneas han sido expuestas en diferentes países de Europa: Suiza, España, Alemania y Austria son algunos de ellos.

Ein Mann, der Zeit hat

Keine Zeit - Dieses Mantra moderner Gesellschaften beschäftigt Manuel Giron in seinem neuen Buch «Frischer Wind». Der Autor und Künstler lebt seit 1990 in St. Gallen. Hier ist er als Maler, Fotograf, Videokünstler und Schriftsteller tätig, in seinem Heimatland hatte er Kunst und Psychologie studiert. Vor fünf Jahren verlieh ihm St. Gallen den städtischen Werkpreis für «Das grüne Auge». Mit dieser Foto- und Video-Ausstellung hatte er dem St. Galler Stadtpark eine Liebeserklärung und sich selbst einen Namen gemacht.

Buchpräsentation

Morgen Mittwoch, 19 Uhr, liest der Künstler und Autor Manuel Giron in der Freihandbibliothek an der Katharinengasse aus seinem neuen Buch vor.                    Es heisst «Wir sehen uns im Frühling wieder – Nos volveremos a ver en primavera ». Gelesen wird laut Mitteilung auf Spanisch und Deutsch. Doris Königer liest die deutsche Übersetzung. Anschliessend gibt es einen Apéro.

Neues Buch

Der Autor Manuel Giron stellt heute in der Offenen Kirche sein neues Buch «Lunas De Otoño» vor. Darin versammelt der Schriftsteller und Künstler 16 Alltagsgeschichten voller Humor und feiner Ironie, die Titel wie «Angorakatze in der Waschmaschine», «Die Krise der 60er-Jahre» oder «Magischer Realismus» tragen. Giron wurde in Guatemala geboren, wo er Kunst und Psychologie studierte. Seit 1990 lebt er in St. Gallen. Seine heutige Lesung wird musikalisch umrahmt vom Frauenduo Las Argentinas: Claudia Demkura (Gesang) und Analía Bongiovanni (Piano)

Ein Stück Süden geht verloren

Seit zehn Jahren war sie ein kleiner, aber feiner Hort lateinamerikanischer Kultur. Jetzt schliesst die Casa Latinoamericana. Über zweihundert Veranstaltungen hat das Team hinter sich. Aber ehrenamtliche Arbeit macht mit den Jahren müde.

St. Galler Künstler in Genf

Der Buchklub der Vereinten Nationen organisiert eine Kollektivausstellung als eine Hommage an das Werk des katalanischen Malers José Maria Sert. Gemeinsam mit anderen eingeladenen Künstlern präsentiert auch der in St. Gallen wohnhafte Künstler Manuel Giron seine Bilder. Giron stammt aus Guatemala, Mittelamerika ist denn auch in seinen Bildern unverkennbar präsent. Heute Montag um 18 Uhr ist die Vernissage. Die Ausstellung im Palais des Nations in Genf dauert bis Freitag, 5. Dezember.

Der St. Galler Fotokünstler Manuel Giron hat einen Bildband über St. Gallen herausgebracht. Menschen kommen auf seinen Stadtansichten nicht vor, dafür sieht man überraschende Details zwischen altem und modernem St. Gallen.

Kunst, inspiriert aus aller Welt

Manuel Giron spielt mit seiner Kreativität und verbindet in seinem künstlerischen Schaffen Literatur, Video, Fotografie, Malerei und Musik. Er hat sich dem Erforschen und Experimentieren mit klassischen und modernen Ausdruckformen der Kunst verschrieben. Seine Vitalität und Ursprünglichkeit haben ihm internationale Anerkennung eingebracht und seine Werke finden sich in verschiedenen Ländern Europas und Amerikas. Giron arbeitet als freischaffender Künstler in der Schweiz, Spanien, London, Paris und Tokyo. Seine Fotografien waren auch in den Vereinten Nationen in Genf ausgestellt. 2001 erhielt er den Werkpreis der Stadt St. Gallen.

Fotos und Filme über Kuba

Unter dem Titel «Wie wäre Kuba ohne Blockade» findet in der Casa Latinoamericana, Eisengasse 5, eine Ausstellung zu Kuba statt. Der St. Galler Künstler Manuel Giron zeigt Fotografien und Videoarbeiten. Girons Schaffen zeichnet sich durch ein Experimentieren mit klassischen und modernen Formen der Kunst aus. Die Vernissage ist morgen, 17 Uhr. An den darauffolgenden vier Samstagen ist die Ausstellung jeweils von 16 bis 18 Uhr geöffnet.

Abstraktion der Wirklichkeit

Galerie Edition Camos präsentiert ab 29. Oktober die Ausstellung „Abstraktion der Wirklichkeit – urban landscape photograpy“ mit Fotoarbeiten von Manuel Giron. Der Künstler zeigt in lebendigen Bildern Städtelandschaften aus Paris, London, Barcelona, Bilbao und Zürich. Die Ausstellung endet am 26. November 2011.

Ebenfalls mit verzwickten perspektivischen Ansichten arbeitet der zweite Künstler in diesem Raum Manuel Giron. Gerade das urbane Umfeld hat es ihm angetan. Die Menschen, die Fülle an Eindrücken, an Perspektive und Blickachsen – er registriert und konzentriert es, sei es durch die Wahl enger Bildausschnitte, sei es dass er durch Spiegelungen und Schattenrisse neue Ebenen in das Bild einbringt, die den Bildraum, das visuelle Theater um uns herum, erweitern. Seine Arbeiten sind geprägt von einer kreativen Spielfreudigkeit und sinnlicher Lust am schauen und zeigen. Das Ergebnis sind farbenfrohe, leuchtende Bilder, geschaffen aus seinem inneren Fundus, der durch die Erfahrungen in Guatemala, seiner Kultur und seinem Licht geprägt ist. In seinen neueren Arbeiten geht Manuel Giron häufig noch einen Schritt weiter, indem er ein Kondensat seiner Eindrücke extrahiert, die Bilder am Computer überlagert, ihre Farbigkeit verändert, intensiviert. Durch die zusätzliche Einbeziehung von scheinbar textuellen schriftartigen Elementen werden die Bilder gleichsam zu Palimpsesten, die immer tiefere Schichten ihres Wesens freilegen.

Réinventer Paris is a project of the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo.

A tribute of light and sea of the Mediterranean coast.

The artist blurs the camera to capture sensual images, and uses a DJI drone for aerial views of Sitges beach, Barcelona.

Smooth Jazz music accompanies the comings and goings of the waves, and the reflections of light splash like raindrops in the ocean!
